In Roskachestvo told how not to become a victim of Christmas contests.

Attention! Competition!

On the eve of the New Year, the number of lotteries and raffles on the Internet has increased, which allegedly "guarantee" large sums of money, smart phones, home appliances, travel, warns Roskachestvo and Group-IB security experts.
For example, the creators of fake resources, masquerading as state online services and promotional sites of popular browsers, promise visitors a reward of up to 200 thousand rubles. In order to "earn" it, you need to make several contributions: the minimum amount is 350 rubles, the maximum is 1700 rubles.

But most often contests look much more convincing, so it’s worth a thorough approach to checking them out. Roskachestvo and Group-IB have prepared a list of recommendations on how not to fall for the scammers. To begin with, it is important to check the validity of the competition. As you know, the law prohibits gambling on the Internet. Then you should evaluate your chances. Most likely, the participant will have more luck in the competition of a small company. Therefore, you should pay attention to smaller, niche contests in social networks. Winning a prize there is usually easier.

Another important point: you need to clarify whether the declared prize covers all expenses - for example, if there is a chance to win a trip, you need to find out what exactly is included in the ticket and whether you will have to pay extra. It so happens that free accommodation is played as a prize, but there are no flights to this destination. Or the participant wins the prize, but in order to be delivered to the destination, you have to pay a considerable amount. And sometimes the prize does not reach the winner at all - this is an ordinary scam.
Another pitfall is that participation in the competition implies an advertising subscription. After the competition will have to become the owner of a large number of advertising content.

In general, before participating in a contest, you need to make sure that the site is real, not phishing - specifically designed to steal personal user data. To do this, pay attention to the address bar in the browser and its contents: if the site name contains a dash or several dots (ali-express, *, then it is better to leave the site. And do not trust poorly working sites. You can not go on dubious links in publications devoted to discounts and share personal data.
