The maximum term of preferential loans for vegetable producers in greenhouses will be extended from 8 to 12 years. The Russian government approved the proposal of the Ministry of Agriculture, the press service of Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeyev said.
"Following the discussion, the initiative of the agrarian ministry to extend concessional loans for greenhouses was approved, by October 1, 2019, the agency should prepare a draft of the relevant changes in the regulatory framework."
As specified, the right to prolongation will also benefit manufacturers who have not previously received reimbursement of capital costs. This will help reduce the financial burden on enterprises that have grown due to the increase in electricity tariffs.

According to Alexei Gordeev, control over electricity tariffs and maintaining comfortable conditions for doing business is extremely important for the greenhouse vegetable growing industry. The Vice Premier also reminded of the legislative limitation of their inflation rate. He instructed the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, jointly with the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, the Ministry of Energy and the Greenhouses of Russia branch association, to study the question of the reasonableness of the rising cost of electricity for greenhouses.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the importance of providing high-quality greenhouse vegetables from all regions of the country, including the Far East and the regions of the Far North. In these territories, greenhouses have a high social significance and need additional state support. “For these territories, it is necessary to work out separate proposals in the context of solving their social and economic tasks,” the message says. The Deputy Prime Minister gave the relevant instructions to the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia together with the Ministry of Eastern and Eastern Development.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the production of greenhouse vegetables in Russia has increased by 65 percent since 2014. Last year, Russian enterprises collected more than 1 million tons of vegetables. In the next 4-5 years, annual production can be increased to 1.5 million tons.
