VIII International School on Satellite Navigation

General Designer of JSC "GLONASS" on September 22 will speak in the program of the VIII International School on Satellite Navigation

Mikhail Korablev, General Designer of JSC "GLONASS", on September 22 will deliver a lecture in the program of the VIII International School on Satellite Navigation. Michael will talk about the principles of building the state automated information system "ERA-GLONASS", its functional capabilities and development prospects.
The main objective of the system is to reduce the time for the transmission of information about road accidents to emergency response services. The "ERA-GLONASS" system functions in full throughout the Russian Federation and has been helping to save the lives of victims of road accidents for more than 2.5 years. To date, the "ERA-GLONASS" system has received and processed over 1,530,000 emergency calls. For 17,240 calls, emergency response services were needed, with 9,232 calls being received in automatic mode - in an accident with severe damage to the vehicle. All the victims were assisted.
The "ERA-GLONASS" system is based on the technologies of the global satellite system GLONASS, which ensures a reliable signal reception and accuracy of positioning throughout the world, even in the northern latitudes. The "ERA-GLONASS" system, created in Russia, is an illustrative example of the practical use of the results of space activities in the interests of citizens.
The International School for Satellite Navigation is being organized by JSC Russian Space Systems with the support of the Roskosmos state corporation. The goal of the School is to teach the students the basic principles of constructing and practical application of GLONASS technologies, using the opportunities of integrated application of GLONASS data and Earth remote sensing (ERS). Students of the School are specialists of organizations using satellite navigation and remote sensing technologies, implementing systems based on them and providing navigation and geoinformation services to consumers.
Classes of the VIII International School on Satellite Navigation will be held September 17-22, 2018 in Pavilion No. 34 Cosmos (VDNH, Moscow).
