AsstrA increases the volume of transportation of petrochemical products

One of the latest projects was the supply of motor oils from Russia to Iraq

In 2018, the international logistics operator plans to increase the share of shipments of petrochemical products in the company's total turnover from 2.2 to 3%, including through the increase in volumes in Iraq. One of the latest projects was the delivery of motor oils from Russia to Iraq with a total weight of 40 tons for the Russian oil company.

In 2017, AsstrA's revenue from petrochemical transportation projects increased by 45% compared to 2016 and amounted to 2.5 million euros. Revenues from transportation on the routes in which Russia is involved amounted to 1.9 million euros. More than 650 thousand euros are for export shipments, 1.1 million euros for imports and 176,000 euros for domestic transportation.

The largest number of export shipments from Russia fell on Turkey (44), Latvia (10), and Ukraine (9). The leaders in terms of revenue were Russia-Tajikistan routes (492,000 euros), Russia-Turkey (96,000 euros) and Russia-Azerbaijan (18,000 euros).

Petrochemical products were imported mainly from Belgium (161 transports), Finland (153) and Poland (43). These same countries became the leaders in revenue, which amounted to 406, 279 and 153 thousand euros, respectively.

In 2018, the international logistics operator plans to increase the share of shipments of petrochemical products in the company's total turnover from 2.2 to 3%, including through the increase in volumes in Iraq. In particular, in December 2017 trial deliveries of motor oils to Iraq for the Russian oil company began. Within the framework of the project, AsstrA undertook the provision of freight forwarding services. For two weeks from Russia to Iraq, motor oils with a total weight of 40 tons were transported through Turkey. The cost of the cargo was about 200 thousand US dollars.

"The difficulty was primarily in the route itself, since Iraq is the country in which military operations are conducted. Therefore, there is a shortage in suppliers in this sector, which can become our competitive advantage when increasing volumes in this country, "said Evgenia Serikova, deputy sales director of the AsstrA group of companies.

AsstrA specialists worked and presented to the client three routes of cargo delivery with different transit countries: Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan. "We evaluated each of the proposed options on several criteria - cost, transit time, and also in terms of possible risks. In addition, the main requirement of the customer was a ban on overload during transportation, due to the fear of damage to the goods. Therefore, we also analyzed the number of overload points and the need to change the vehicle, "says Yevgenia Serikova. "The best option was direct transit through Turkey, as in this case there was only one control point with possible risks of delivery delays - a ferry in Novorossiysk."

AsstrA offered transportation by standard cars. Thus, direct delivery was provided, while the vehicles were transported by ferry. "The operational work was carried out by our trusted Turkish partner, the project was supervised by the representative of the AsstrA office in Istanbul. We expand our geographic presence every year, and we attract citizens of countries where our offices are opened to work within the company. This ensures maximum closeness to the new market for us in the language, mental and cultural plans and helps us to effectively build relationships with both customers and suppliers, "adds Yevgenia Serikova.
